Shrimp and Crab Salad

Shrimp and Crab Salad

Once you try this cool, creamy salad it is sure to become a summer favorite.  It only requires a few ingredients and will keep in the refrigerator for several days (if it lasts that long)!  It can be served as a main dish or as a side to grilled steak, chicken or fish.  It will receive rave reviews at potlucks or picnics, and even wedding receptions, in other words you can’t go wrong if you make it!

Here’s what you will need:

Small frozen (thawed)cooked shrimp-12 to 16 ounces, 1 package imitation crab meat, 16 ounce box of pasta (I am using bowtie pasta, but small shells work well too), mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, green pepper and onion.

To begin cook your pasta according to the package directions.  Rinse under cold water, drain well, and set aside.

Next finely mince about 1/4 of a green pepper and 1/2 of a medium sized onion.

In a small bowl mix together 1/2 cup of mayo and 1 tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and sugar.

Mix well and set aside.

Now you are ready to prepare the shrimp and crab meat, I like to chop the shrimp in half if they are really large and I also chop the crab meat into smaller pieces, but if you like larger chunks leave them as they are.

In a large bowl combine the pasta, shrimp, crab meat, onion and green pepper.

Pour the mayonnaise mixture over the salad ingredients and mix together well.

Cover and chill the salad until ready to serve, at least 1 hour.

Be sure to stir the salad before serving.

Shrimp and Crab Salad

This cool, creamy salad can be a main dish or a standout side dish at any gathering!

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) box pasta shells (bowtie or small shells)
  • 1/2 medium onion (finely minced)
  • 1/4 green bell pepper (finely minced)
  • 1-12 to 16 ounce frozen small cooked shrimp (thawed)
  • 1 package imitation crab meat
  • 1/2 cup mayonaisse (do not use Miracle Whip)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Directions

Step 1
Cook pasta according to directions on box. Rinse, drain, and set aside.
Step 2
In a small bowl mix together, mayo, sugar and cider vinegar, set aside.
Step 3
Chop shrimp and crab meat into smaller pieces if desired and place into a large bowl.
Step 4
Add pasta, onion and green pepper to shrimp and crab meat, mix together.
Step 5
Pour mayo mixture over salad ingredients and mix together well.
Step 6
Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Stir salad before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.

  1. This is the best shrimp & crab salad I have ever put in my mouth. Next time I am gonna use real crab meat. I usually buy my seafood salad at the Farm Fresh Grocery Store , but no more.
